When your heart skips a beat

I live for those moments — when I feel my heart skip a beat.

According to science and the internet; a heart skipping is a result of a premature beat of the heart (basically, the heart gets a premature signal to squeeze before being filled with blood), a pause will be felt and the next heartbeat will be more forceful than usual.

Too much caffeine, the medicine we take, anemia, intake of too much salt, and strenuous exercise are some of the causes of heart palpitations (medical term for a heart skipping a beat).

Now we ask, does seeing someone you’re attracted to causes your heart to “skip a beat”? Apparently, yes!

Strong emotions (fear, excitement, love) can cause palpitations.

Funny how we feel alive when our heart malfunctions for a bit. I’m taking on a limb here to say, we technically have died for a second in order to have felt something “more.”

Serious medical implications aside, how many times have your heart skipped today?
